about Georgetown Cupcake

"Georgetown Cupcake was founded by sisters Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne. Katherine and Sophie traded careers in fashion and private equity to pursue something a little sweeter - their passion for artful cupcakes. Both lifelong bakers, inspired by their grandmothers, Katherine and Sophie opened Georgetown Cupcake in February 2008 as DC's first and only cupcakery."

The cupcakes are good, but undersized for the price compared to other bakeries.

The cupcakes and frosting are DELICIOUS, but they are expensive and not all that big. However, their flavors are awesome and very unique. Check out Twitter/Facebook for their free flavor of the day...it's a great deal!

The cupcakes are delicious. They are small but rich so you don't necessarily want them to be bigger. They are expensive though. I really only go in to get the free cupcake of the day!

Nothing says "incredible" like a 25 dollar cupcake. What a scam

To be honest, I've been to way more expensive cupcake places. I think the prices are reasonable for a special-occasion type visit. I've enjoyed the cupcakes I've had from here more than most other store bought ones I've tried, so I'd say Georgetown Cupcake is worth it. I love that they have seasonal varieties for different times of the year, too.

Definitely good for taking a "sweetheart", and I think the success of this brand is in its exclusivity & marketing. And a 20+ person line out the door of this tiny shop makes a big statement.

I took my girlfriend here last spring when it was only a couple of months in. We waited in the line that extended past the future home of philly's.

As we watched the people in the front of the line come out one-by-one with boxes and boxes of cupcakes, we grew more and more anxious about getting one to try. When we finally got to the front of the line, we managed to get our hands on the last Georgetown cupcake for the day.

The excitement around getting that little $3 treasure after at least a half an hour in line made it worth the trip. She loved it :)

Ok, yeah they are expensive and its kinda a hike, but I like them. One of the suggestions on this year's stall seat journal was to surprise your sweetie with Georgetown cupcakes and that's what I did! It was really fun. The icing really is amazing and there was this one cupcake with gooey chocolate in the middle it was better then the regular ones. I don't know about other people, but I'm no cook and I can't make cupcakes like that. I put mine in the fridge so they were all delicious and cold! I am willing to pay the extra cash for a this special treat every once and a while.

I'm willing to pay out the @$$ for just about anything, so the price was not a deterrent when I went into georgetown cupcake, the mediocre taste of these baked goods has made me decide not to return, though. With a product this specialized, you'd expect it'd be better...

Not worth the time, the money, or the inevitable wait in line.

The cupcakes are good, but in all honesty, they taste just as good as the ones from the box mix. The icing is good and homemade, so its obviously better than that crap you buy in supermarkets. But its so easy to make your own icing (whip [with a blender of a fork and your arm] butter, a little milk, and confectioner's sugar) that it doesn't seem worth walking down to Potomac St. and waiting in line for an hour to pay $13 for four cupcakes. Unrealistic. But they have cute pink boxes.

It's such a cute idea, but the cupcakes, while the flavors sound exotic, all tend to taste the same, and they're so small for the price!
